How did you get into FM/ Accidental FM

I am the quintessential unintentional FM. A mid-career professional who transitioned into Facility Management nearly 13 years ago (from military Broadcast Journalism and Public Affairs). My knowledge gap was solved for by earning my Facility Management Professional (FMP) credential and becoming very active within my IFMA Chapter (past President of the Oregon and SW Washington Chapter of IFMA). I have also taken on many international leadership roles within our global association and am the current Chair of the Americas Advisory Board of Directors for IFMA.

Highlight of your Facility or Operation

Opened in the Fall of 2022, Providence Health Center – Reed’s Crossing is a 118,000 square foot building that joined my portfolio of ambulatory medical sites in a rapidly expanding area of South Hillsboro. The center now provides integrated care between several teams to give our patients a connected and comprehensive plan for wellness – a village of providers all in one place. This will include physicians, mental health specialists, physical therapists, nutritionists, and fitness specialists. It really has advanced what healthcare can be for patients.

One off Weird Experience in the Industry

Many of us performed one-off activities during the peak of the pandemic. Things within your operations that would not have been occurring except for being in the midst of the pandemic. Mine was providing for and managing all of the service support for my client’s drive thru testing sites. I have learned that you cannot heat the outside with propane, no matter how hard you try!
