President’s Message

Dear IFMA Oregon & SW Washington Members:

It is with deep gratitude, excitement, and a strong sense of responsibility that I step into the role of President for our incredible chapter. For many years, I’ve been blessed to be part of this organization. I have witnessed firsthand the value IFMA brings to the facilities industry and its professionals. The mentorship, education, and connections I’ve gained here have been invaluable, and I’m even more grateful for the opportunity to serve on the board these past several years. Thank you all for your trust and support.

Our chapter has a rich legacy of innovation and collaboration, built by the dedication of past leaders and members from all corners of the FM community. As we move forward, I’m committed to honoring that legacy by fostering an inclusive, dynamic environment where every member—whether a facility management professional, an emerging leader, a student, or an industry partner—can grow, contribute, and thrive together.

This year, our focus will center on four key priorities:

1) Delivering High-Value, Relevant Content

We’ll curate workshops, panel discussions, and resources that address the unique challenges and opportunities in our region—from sustainability in the Pacific Northwest to evolving workplace strategies. Your feedback will drive our programming, ensuring practical takeaways for your day-to-day work.

2)Empowering Career Growth

Through certifications, mentorship programs, and skill-building sessions, we’ll help members at every stage advance their expertise and leadership potential. Look for partnerships with local educational institutions and industry experts to expand these opportunities.

3)Strengthening Community & Partnerships

Collaboration is at the heart of our chapter’s success. We’ll deepen ties with allied organizations, local businesses, and neighboring IFMA chapters to amplify our impact and advocate for the FM profession across Oregon and SW Washington.

4)Developing Future Leaders & Succession Planning

We will prioritize leadership development by identifying and nurturing emerging talent within our chapter. Through structured mentorship, board shadowing, and hands-on volunteer opportunities, we’ll ensure a strong pipeline of leaders ready to guide our chapter into the future.

None of this is possible without the hard work of our board, volunteers, and—most importantly—you, our members. I encourage you to share your ideas, get involved, and help shape the future of our chapter. Together, we’ll elevate the visibility of facility management and create lasting value for our profession.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve. I’m eager to connect with you at upcoming events and hear how we can make this year our most impactful yet.

With Appreciation,
Stratton Turpen
