How did you get into FM/ Accidental FM?

After moving back to Oregon 12 years ago, | began my journey with Javelin as a temporary employee, assisting with inventory part counting and verification during a customer relocation project. The customer had written off several missing parts as lost, but within my first week, I located over $25,000 worth of those “lost” items. This experience opened my eyes to the critical importance of accurate inventory management and effective processes for operational success.

Eager to learn, I quickly expanded my knowledge across multiple departments, which led to a full-time position and eventually a promotion to Lead of the Inventory Control team. Javelin supported my growth by giving me opportunities to explore different areas of the business, allowing both myself and my team to develop professionally.

Along the way, I relied heavily on my strong people skills—building trust, communicating clearly, and supporting others through change. I’ve always been quick to learn, and I used that strength to help write and formalize processes that we used to roll out our new WMS. Ensuring the team had clear, accurate documentation to train from was a priority for me, and it played a major role in our operational success.

These experiences, combined with my dedication and ability to bring people together, helped me advance to Operations Supervisor, and later | transferred to our PDX facility to gain experience managing multi-customer operations. Within six months, | was promoted again— this time to Facility Manager of the Hillsboro location.

I’ve proudly served as Facility Manager for nearly five years now, and | truly love what I do and the incredible team | work with. Outside of work, my children inspire me daily and motivate me to keep learning, growing, and setting a strong example of leadership and perseverance.

Weird Experience in the industry?

Our inventory control processes are exceptionally well-organized and tightly managed. At one point, one of our customers employed a third-party company to perform quarterly and annual audits of their inventory based on dollar value. The customer eventually discontinued the use of the external auditing company and began relying solely on our data —something that was previously unheard of for them.

Highlight of your facility or operation?

We handle a little bit of everything—storage, distribution, and transportation—making sure each piece runs smoothly and efficiently. What really makes us different, though, is the pride we take in our work and the integrity we bring to every decision and interaction.

I’m grateful that | get to make a difference for my team and our customers every day. My biggest goal is simple: to make sure everyone feels supported and that we all go home safely to our families at the end of the day. Safety, respect, and doing the right thing are what guide us, no matter how busy things get.
